Abstract:
75 30' x 60' USGS quadrangles in Idaho are represented as polygon features with the USGS quadrangle name, alpha-numeric quadrangle code, and the latitude/logitude bounding coordinates in decimal degrees as attributes.
Purpose:
This SDE layer was developed for use in ArcIMS Image Map Services. A minimum number of attributes were retained to enhance preformance of the Internet application. The layer provides baseline boundary information for the quadrangles.

All 30' x 60' USGS quadrangle boundaries that have any area in Idaho are included. The layer used to determine if a quadrangle boundary is within the state is the county layer created by IDWR. The layer is available for download from INSIDE Idaho (counties_id_idwr.tgz).

The shapefile "quad100" was acquired from the IDWR web site (http://www.idwr.state.id.us/gisdata/) for use on the INSIDE Project.
The shapefile"quad100" contained quadrangles outside the state boundary of Idaho. Using ArcView, only quadrangles having area within the state boundary were saved as a new shapefile "quad100k_id_idwr".

This metadata file was created in SMMS using metadata downloaded with the shapefile.

Downloaded the 30 x 60 minute quadrangle boundaries shapefile (quad100k_id_idwr.tgz) from INSIDE Idaho.
Opened the shapefile in ArcView 3.2a and joined the latitude/longitude bounding coordinates from an INSIDE Idaho data base. Join field was the quadrangle code.

Saved as a new shapefile (Theme > Convert to shapefile) and deleted some of the attributes not needed for the Web Mapping Application.

Exported the data to an SDE database using the Export > Shapefile to Geodatabase option in ArcCatalog 8.1. All defaults were used.
